Description

Hidden Galaxy IC 342. A faint galaxy, 7 million light years away. It is hidden from clear view and only glimpsed through the veil of stars, gas and dust clouds along the plane of our own Milky Way.

IC 342, aka Caldwell 5, closely resembles our Milky Way galaxy, and is near enough to gravitationally affect it.

North is at the top of this image. At the upper left, the galaxy UGC2826 can be seen (not registered by plate solve here). It is a 14th magnitude spiral galaxy 73 million light years away in constellation Camelopardalis.
